The lights are on but there’s not a soul inside. Such is the scene at an Oklahoma City music store whose owner has closed up shop after a hate-filled tirade on social media this week.
Zachary Smith, owner of Gear Exchange on NW 36th St. in Oklahoma City has barricaded the two entrances to the music store’s parking lot following a political outburst on the store’s official Facebook account.
In combination with the presence of the shipping containers in the back lot and a months-old, cryptic post about selling the business, it seems like Zachary Smith has closed up shop, but used the music store’s official social media page to post scores of hateful tirades against “trans kids” and “dems” this weekend before closing the store.
Hundreds of notable Oklahoma musicians and LGBT allies jumped onto Smith’s posts, condemning the hatred.
It’s sad to see another music store in Oklahoma City go, especially out of hatred and mental illness.
